I chose Kona Kai because it advertised a restaurant, room service, and spa. I was there in order to avoid cooking, cleaning, and to see the sun. That said, the food was good, if overpriced. It's also a loss for the wait staff as they are less likely to be tipped in cash if I can't break a large bill. As cash is legal tender, and I prefer to pay with cash in order to avoid end-of -month bills, this peeved me. What I found most surprising is that this restaurant does not accept cash. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the wait staff friendly and attentive. Since I arrived late in the afternoon, I went to the restaurant for a late lunch/early dinner. No bad energy, and the staff was friendly.
